WHAT PEOPLE EAT

China is known for it's delicious food.  It is very different from what we know about in this country, but you can see the similarities.  Most dishes come with spicy sauces and include either rice or noodles.

People in China shop every day for fresh food.  Even in the big cities there are gardens everywhere full of vegetables.

Food is cooked on coal stoves The stoves are the round black things in this picture.


China has such a large population that it is difficult to grow enough food for everyone.  Every place that can be used is planted with food crops - even the sides of these mountains.  The steep hills are terraced to keep the crops from washing away.

No day is complete without lots of tea to drink!  Below is a ceremony that involves making tea.  Everyone drinks tea every day in China.
